We worked with 10 busy clinicians and designed the session around their pre-planned meeting times at Care Fertility, which made it much easier for the team to attend. In this case, it was the same staff group across two online meetings, allowing us to build confidence steadily without adding unnecessary pressure to their day.  No travel, no full days leave rostering, no problems.  The online skills lab stayed with the delegate and we joined online to coach.  Clinical competency was achieved through the structured learning programme.

They joined us from their clinical office, which was ideal because they were so close to the reality of their patient setting and day-to-day practice.

The group had completed different elements of the e-learning curriculum beforehand. Most had experience taking blood in practice, but not cannulation, and we also had one complete novice who turned out to be a natural with needle control.

The verbal feedback was excellent. It was clear that the blended approach worked.

This is now a model I will offer outside formal contracts too, so watch this space.

These clinicians can also return individually to our monthly LIVE online sessions over the next 12 months, or their manager can book another small group session if that would help consolidate practice. We do not want to create unnecessary logistical pressure for either the team or the manager, but the option is there when it adds value.

I loved it. The session felt close enough to practice to almost reach the patients it will benefit. The group were a genuine pleasure to work with - open to new ideas, while leaving more confident in their own styles, with a few small refinements for practice. They also left better equipped to support novices using the VeinTrain methods we teach to reduce injury to self and others, and to keep that needle steady as a rock.
