VeinTrain Announces Global Healthcare Training Initiatives in CAR, Johannesburg, and Afghanistan.
Nottingham-based VeinTrain, a pioneer in healthcare training since 2007, is scaling up its mission to deliver critical clinical skills to healthcare workers worldwide. Known for its innovation, VeinTrain is addressing global health inequities by bringing practical training directly to those who need it most.
Nottingham, UK – VeinTrain, a leader in clinical training solutions for Blood taking (venepuncture) and cannulation is proud to announce its upcoming international initiatives, including a major collaboration in the Central African Republic (CAR), program design in Johannesburg, and training deployment in Afghanistan. These projects highlight VeinTrain’s adaptability and scalability, proven through its success with large-scale healthcare rollouts, such as the NHS Manchester Integrated Care Board (ICS), and its commitment to reaching underserved populations worldwide. The founder is a published author with Lord Darzi forwarding her book. The partnership was forged with PreLink/Gencode at WISH in 2018 and as the skies shut to humans the veins flew to South Africa to set up the a halo centre which will Lead this project.
“When the skies shut during COVID, the veins flew in,” said Sarah Phillips, CEO of VeinTrain, referencing the resilience of her team’s commitment to healthcare innovation, even during global disruptions.
In collaboration with the Institut Pasteur de Bangui (IPB) and STEMPATH Pathology, VeinTrain is set to deliver its cutting-edge training system in CAR. This initiative focuses on empowering community healthcare workers with critical venepuncture and clinical skills, particularly in remote regions with limited access to resources.
As part of this effort, VeinTrain will convene in Johannesburg to co-design the training programme with key stakeholders–starting 2025 off strong.
The aim is to ensure the system is tailored to local healthcare needs while maintaining its signature adaptability.

VeinTrain is also extending its expertise to Afghanistan, where it will work with a public health director to adapt its training system to the unique challenges of the region. By focusing on community healthcare workers, this initiative will ensure critical clinical skills are accessible to underserved populations, supporting local health systems in improving care delivery working with CHW in thier communities, empowering local women to offer cricitcal healthcare skills..
VeinTrain’s global initiatives build on the success of its large-scale deployment with the NHS Manchester Integrated Care Board, Guys and St Thomas's . In this programme, VeinTrain trained thousands of healthcare workers in venepuncture, reaching a wide range of professions, including community health teams and care home staff. This experience underscores VeinTrain’s ability to adapt its system to meet the diverse needs of any healthcare environment.
