Our Somaliland Halo Centre, based at Edna Adan University Hospital, is now live and delivering training to the next generation of nurses and clinicians. This work is fully aligned with our global model: locally led, scalable and designed to strengthen frontline clinical skills in complex environments.

Working with Yasma Osman and the leadership team at Edna Adan University Hospital, we are supporting trainers, supervisors and students with flat pack simulators, online skills labs and structured competency pathways. This equips teams to provide safer, more accurate venepuncture and cannulation at scale, improving diagnostic quality and strengthening the foundations of a resilient health system.

All are designed to support a One Health approach and to align with the emerging Africa Health Security and Sovereignty vision led by WHO and Africa CDC. The tripartite agreement with Stempath, the Ministry of Health in CAR and the Institut Pasteur de Bangui strengthens the diagnostic and skills foundations that sit underneath pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. While funding streams will vary by country, the model is intentionally built so it can complement national health security plans, regional surveillance networks and opportunities created through mechanisms such as the Pandemic Fund, without creating parallel systems. Historic Partnership Agreement

Landmark Tripartite Agreement announced to Transform Healthcare Service delivery and training in Africa between Stempath, Ministry of Health (CAR) and Pasteur Institute, Bangui.

Our Global Halo Centres are moving forward with both South Africa and Afghanistan benefiting from VeinTraining Solutions. 2025 is starting strong! Take a look at our packages here:

2025 saw us launch a full system in Somaliland for Nurses, Midwives, Doctors, and  University Students.  This is equivalent to the numbers and volume we delivered at World Class Centre Guy's and St Thomas's NHS FT, however the cost and speed is much lower thanks to the Vein and Halo Programme scaleability.  Further it leaves the organisation completely self sustaining with decreasing dependance on VeinTrain UK as the centres become autonomous.  Replenishing licences beneftis from a reduced fee once all the system is reached and all the Trainers/Leaders are on board.  Further, we encourage the Centres to income generate regionally. Our aim is to open up expertise, let the Vein do the heavy lifting and free up the trainers/clinical leads to take these skills forward in a way that works for their environment, including resources of equipment, teaching resources and workforce. VeinTrain steps un and steps back and even down to suit centres.

2026 will see a trip to South Africa to co-design training programmes tailored to the unique needs in CAR. This marks the beginning of a transformative initiative in Central African Republic (CAR) following the formal signing of the tripartite between South Africa, CAR and Pasteur Institute, Bangui.  VeinTrain will work with their Halo Centre in Johannesburg, PreLink (Part of Gencode) to train hundreds of Community Healthcare Workers (CHWs) -  PreLink/Gencode has state of the art and AI (Artificial Intelligence) enabled cloud software a key enabler in the remote lab set up.  Together we have the full solution for rapid deployment with remote labs, software to connect and mobile training to enable the safe collection of blood samples.

Innovation in Motion

Creating a complete ecosystem that moves with the needs of communities.

  • Mobile physical infrastructure (StemPath Labs)
  • Mobile digital infrastructure (PreLink)
  • Mobile learning infrastructure (VeinTrain)

Breaking Traditional Boundaries

  • Reach communities previously cut off from diagnostic services
  • Adapt to changing healthcare needs quickly
  • Bring expertise to where it's needed most

Professor Emmanuel Nakouné-Yandoko, Director of the IPB, welcomed this initiative:

"This project will make quality diagnostics accessible to the most isolated populations."

Afghanistan VeinTrain Halo Centre

At the same time, we’re in the early stages of launching a groundbreaking project in Afghanistan. This initiative is particularly compelling because we’ll be training 1,500 women healthcare workers remotely from their homes—an innovative approach considering the current socio-political complexities. We’ve partnered with Dr. Fahim Paigham, who has extensive experience navigating Afghanistan’s unique challenges, and our collaboration is already aligned with local realities and aims to empower women to contribute to healthcare systems.

A Local Success Story with Global Reach

VeinTrain’s story began here in Nottingham, UK but our impact is growing internationally. We were one of just 20 company winners of the showcase competition selected by WISH (World Innovation Summit for Health) in 2018  Chaired by Lord Ara Darzi. Chosen because they have the potential to transform global healthcare. Proximie,  a solution that virtually transports doctors was also featured at WISH. All these compnaies operate on a similar premise of using technology to bridge healthcare gaps with VeinTrain focuses on the most commonly performed skills venepuncture and cannulation with trainers transproted via virtual platforms and flatpacked simulators.

WISH is a global healthcare community dedicated to capturing and disseminating the best evidence-based ideas and practices. The 2018 Summit took place on November 13th and 14th of that year, bringing together more than 2,000 global leaders. Delegates have included healthcare experts from in excess of 100 countries and 50 ministries of health that between them oversee healthcare policy for more than 2 billion people around the world. The summit also attracts representation from major international organizations such as the United Nations, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Carter Center, Save the Children and the World Health Organization.

Both Halo Centres met VeinTrain at WISH, Qatar 2018

The WISH strapline, “A healthier world through global collaboration,” perfectly embodies our ethos. With projects spanning CAR, South Africa, and Afghanistan, VeinTrain is not only delivering training but creating sustainable systems for long-term impact and working collaboratively around the world. WISH Mission

  • We forge connections and help build action-driven communities of knowledge who work together to address today’s most pressing global healthcare challenges.
  • We convene and collaborate with the world’s leading experts and the highest levels of decision-makers.
  • We showcase innovations that will make a difference for healthcare communities everywhere.
  • We aim to influence healthcare policy globally.
