Train the Trainer is the point at which individual clinical capability becomes organisational capacity. Within HALO, it is the trainer preparation tier — the mechanism through which your organisation builds the internal resource to deliver IV cannulation, venepuncture and phlebotomy training consistently and to the VeinTrain Standard.

What Train the Trainer does

A VeinTrain accredited trainer completes a structured preparation pathway that covers clinical technique, teaching methodology, competency assessment practice and the use of VeinTrain's blended learning resources. This is not a generic train-the-trainer programme. It is built specifically around IV cannulation, venepuncture and phlebotomy training, and the practical realities of delivering it safely in a clinical environment.

On completion, your accredited trainer is prepared to support learners within the organisation's own supervision, policy and competency sign-off process, in line with your local policy and scope of practice.

How it connects to HALO

HALO provides the organisational framework that makes local delivery sustainable. Train the Trainer sits within HALO as the trainer-facing component, connecting your accredited trainers to:

• blended eLearning access for delegates through the Online Skills Lab
• simulation and practical support resources
• the Structured Learning Programme and competency tracking tools
• VeinTrain's ongoing trainer support and quality assurance layer

Without Train the Trainer, HALO has no internal delivery engine. Without HALO, an accredited trainer operates without the infrastructure to scale. The two are designed to work together.

Accelerator pathway

For trainers who want additional preparation and 1:1 coaching alongside their programme, VeinTrain offers the Train the Trainer Accelerator. Standard includes two 1:1 sessions. Premium includes three 1:1 sessions.

A note on certificates and competency

Completing Train the Trainer documents the trainer's preparation through VeinTrain. It does not replace your organisation's own assurance processes. Local employer sign-off, supervision arrangements and scope of practice decisions remain the organisation's responsibility.
