VeinTrain has worked with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) since 2017, under a formal training agreement, delivering practical clinical skills training across the Trust’s community sites. This is the story of a longstanding NHS training relationship: repeated programmes, hands-on practice using VeinTrain simulation training units, and consistently positive delegate feedback.

What we delivered

Over the course of the relationship, VeinTrain delivered a structured programme of practical training for CLCH staff, including IV Therapy, practical Central Venous Catheter (central line) training and Train the Trainer. The central line training was hands-on, using VeinTrain simulation training units, so delegates could practise realistic technique before applying it in the workplace.

A sustained programme across teams and sites

VeinTrain delivered a multi-year programme of vascular access and phlebotomy training for CLCH through repeated sessions across multiple London sites, supported by formal attendance, sign-in and learner-evaluation processes.

The relationship began with a signed training contract in 2017 and grew across several programme strands, including intravenous therapy, venepuncture, central venous catheter care and Train the Trainer, delivered to clinical teams at different community sites. Repeat bookings, continuing course delivery and an ongoing supply relationship show a partnership sustained over several years rather than a single engagement.

How it was received

Each programme was formally evaluated by the delegates who attended. Feedback was consistently positive across the programmes delivered, including on the quality of teaching, the practical use of the VeinTrain simulation training units, and delegates’ confidence to apply their skills in the workplace. The training was well received across repeated deliveries and different programme types, not as a one-off.

A relationship that continued

CLCH’s engagement with VeinTrain has continued well beyond the original training programmes, including ongoing use of VeinTrain practice equipment and consumables through to the present day.

What this feedback shows, and what it does not

Delegate feedback describes how the training was received by the people who attended it. It is not an independent assessment of clinical competence or patient outcomes, and it does not replace local sign-off: as with all VeinTrain training, final clinical competency sign-off remains with the employer, supervisor or clinical organisation, following local policy and supervision arrangements. VeinTrain training supports structured learning and supervised practice on the route to local competency sign-off.
