How does it work?

It works, as a starting point - we have used it for decades now: please see the video. The flatpack because it is based on experiential learning in a very simple and accessible and low cost to obtain and produce packet!   Your confidence in the equipment and process learnt during using the flatpack vein will put you in the best place for being supervised and assessed following the structured learning programme.  The vein has various video and eLearning options to supplement your training locally.  It is also adaptable to whole organisations.  Standardisation does not mean we all do the same thing to get the same outcome. Specialists and organisations need to adapt systems to take the best to suit them, and standardise locally based on national and international best practice. Likewise, we can load the vein up as much or as little as you like. We strongly recommend you use the booklet with device but it is not mandatory.

How does the VeinTrainer Fit with other systems

A group of like minded individuals developed  the structured learning programme  nearly 2 decades ago.  A project that was  run for patients not for profit, trying our best to get the tool out to clinicinas at minimum cost.   We at Veintrain always wanted to offer a simulator for each learner at low cost but it took us nearly 10 years to get here and it works perfectly with the booklet which we want to keep moving forward taking it from strength to strength. It is a system in a booklet and it works!  . 

We were thrilled our VeinTrain,  VeinTrainer won a showcase at WISH, Qatar! As one of 20 companies selected from around the world with an innovation with the potential to affect healthcare globally.  We believe we can make a difference to healthcare globally with this problematic skill set.  Now we have a whole package to offer you based on decades of experience and what we know works. Using the tried and tested booklet after training using your own simulator that we have used for 12 years, we developed a package version to get to everyone, everywhere!!  You can, learn and maintain your practical technique on your flatpack veintrain vein.  Then take your structured learning programme to the clinical area to be signed off on patients and ensure a standard is achieved.

Background to the Structured Learning Programme 

The structured learning programme has been developed by a group of healthcare professionals with an interest and expertise in venepuncture and cannulation. The aim of the programme is to provide a standardised approach towards training and assessment in order to encourage the use of these skills by well trained and appropriately placed members of the healthcare team. Additionally it should reduce the need for repeated training and assessments when practitioners move between healthcare organisations. NHS staff make the difference where it matters most and we have an obligation to patients and the public to enable them to make best use of their talents. Training Access Using the Structured Learning Programme and VeinTrainer System

When we met about the booklet years ago and during the writing of the book, we had lots of discussions about what training should look like.  We  have never said learning should be a certain way.  You may get chance to work with an expert locally, follow a fantastic online programme or a direct delivery course.  The booklet helps you with structure so you can access that rich learning environment but with the teaching on the Vein you now know you will be following best practice, and may even upskill your supervisor, surgeon or not!  We always want you to go find people in the know, but we want you to have a strong foundation first. You need to know what you are doing is right.  In masterclass we give more information and in Halo we give away the experts secrets.  Pick the level you need.  We can adapt the vein to suit whole organisations inluding co-branding.  So your learners do the VeinTrain way but also the hospital way and the national standards.  We take the doubt away.  As product providers you can offer training to everyone, not just a few over lunch and you can also offer training solutions at much lower cost.  Our aim is to get this out there. Collaboration, strategic partnerships and country-wide roll outs will get practical technique perfection into the hands of those who can benefit, the clinican.

Assessment and Clincal learning and mastering of skills.

The pathway to competency is designed for multi-professional use and provides learners with a structured, simple, but robust method of gaining competence and knowledge in venepuncture and/or cannulation, upon adult patients. Whilst the programme has been developed primarily for use within adult patient care, it can be adapted by healthcare organisations and specialities, to encompass competency achievement within specialised care areas, such as paediatrics and neonates. Once completed, the learner will have a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, with a record of their personal skill development, which can be recognised and therefore enable transfer of these skills across healthcare organisations.  We still offer the booklet at cost individually for bulk order, please contact us.
